The Library 1.7 program has been easy to use, resourceful and very time saving. I would
recommend this program for any church to use. It was the best investment our library has
ever made! The help you have given us in the support line has also been very good.
Anytime I have had a question or problem you have been very quick to respond."

"I am recommending your program to everybody I meet! I love your program. It is so easy to use. We are a small congregation of about 375 people.
I am a retired school librarian with a theological degree. For classification purposes, I use the Church & Synagogue Library manuals on classification and
on subject headings. I find them simple enough to use for the size of the library I serve. I expect that these are the two areas in
which most non-professional people need help. I now have entered 626 books in the data base, and
I am hoping to enter the 2000+ remaining this summer. Thanks again for your easy and useful program."
Note: After receiving the January 2003 update, Chris wrote again:
"I have downloaded your latest revision and I think it is just great. I am particularly glad to get the accession report with the classification information. It has proven to be every bit as good as I expected after checking it out on your website prior to ordering. I am still in the process of getting books catalogued and entered so I am not in 'full' operation as yet. It has been relatively easy to find the answer to the questions I have had. "I certainly have enjoyed working with this program and I find it very easy to use and convenient for our needs. We appreciate your service and interest in keeping us, your customers updated. I was 69 years old, without any experience in library skills at all, when our pastor asked if I would set up a library using the many books which were in boxes and not being used. I surfed the internet to find a program that was available at an affordable price and which would deliver the features that we were looking for. Your program was just what I needed for our church. After entering 1300 books, using the Dewey Decimal Classification system, and labelling, and shelving these books, our congregation is now delighted to have a library that is functionable and a pleasure to use. We are joining up with a more sizable church which did not have a library, and there are people from this incoming congregation who are offering to help in the library because it is so well organized and easy to keep track of the books. So, they will be learning the program. There are folks who are donating many good books and I am pleased to see how the interest in the library has taken off. Thank you very much for all the help you have given."

"In the Fall of 2000 I was directed to establish a library for Channel Islands Bible College and Seminary. Well....I knew nothing about libraries! So, to the internet I went....looking for help. I needed a library computer program and I found some, but the costs were very prohibitive! Then, Praise God, I discovered CROSS Systems and Library 1.7....the price was wonderful and we decided to take a 'chance.' What a wonderful program Library 1.7 is!!! It seemingly does everything that the much more expensive programs do. Library 1.7 is so very user-friendly and I really mean that....it just flows. Our Library is small for now, but Library 1.7 has enabled us to have a modern up-to-date computerized library so that we can accommodate our growing student body. Library 1.7 produces the reports, labels and cards for you......you're
gonna love it!"

"Library 1.7 was recommended to our library staff less than a year ago. It is wonderful and so user-friendly. Equal to the quality software itself is the helpful customer service. They are so under-standing of any situation or question I have to ask and walk me right through whatever I ask. They even showed me how to get information from the Library of Congress on the Internet. I highly recommend Library 1.7 to anyone. When I volunteered as co-director of our library staff, I did not even know what the "Dewey Decimal System" was. I now have 1000 library books in my computer. See how easy it is when you have Library 1.7!"

"I highly recommend this software for churches and other organizations operating on small budgets that desire an affordable quality product. After talking with library software vendors whose products costs hundreds more, I wasn't sure what to expect out of Library 1.7 since it was so inexpensive. However, I was pleasantly surprised! Library 1.7 is very user-friendly, and I was able to begin after spending only 20-30 minutes reading the program's help manual. The database initially defaults to sorting the books by title, but this sort-order can quickly be changed to other fields (such as author, or subject) by clicking on that field's label. There is a very large selection of reports to choose from. The program allows your data-entry to be as simplistic or complex as you desire. If you choose to enter the information, an 'index' field is available to reference page numbers of keywords or phrases. Thank you, CROSS Systems!"

What I like most about it is the fact that we can use any call number and are not locked into Dewey, LCC or numbers generated from ISBN numbers. "Library 1.7 works well for a smaller specialized library that has a staff of 15 volunteers. We are a not-for-profit, art education organization with a fine arts library that consists of nearly 1700 books, 240 videos, and 12 periodical subscriptions. This last year we input all the books, and have almost completed the video section. After the input, we print by title, author, subjects, and classification, and file in large 3-ring binders. This professional system has facilitated searching for ourselves and all our members. We have come a long way from the old and cumbersome card catalogue files that we used in the past."

"The CROSS Library 1.7 software has streamlined my method of placing donated and new books into circulation. There are eight pieces of information that has to be typed or written to record a book for circulation. produce catalog cards is wonderful. The Technical Support has been
superior. I can highly recommend this product for any church library!"

"I would like to say how pleased I've been with the CROSS Library 1.7 program. It performs an amazing number of functions quite well and is definitely "user-friendly." I especially enjoy the Internet link to Library of Congress which makes cataloging those books without CIP information so much easier. Students and staff have quickly learned to use the program and are quite enthusiastic about being able to find books and create bibliographies. It's a very useful program at an incredibly reasonable price."

"I have been so pleased with the Library 1.7 software program. Entering data is so easy and fast. I have had problems in the past with other software programs with my labels not lining up correctly. It caused hours of frustration and wasted labels, which also meant wasted money. I recently printed labels for the first time with the Library 1.7 software and they were aligned perfectly. I am excited and looking forward to when all the data has been entered so that we can begin using the check in/check out features. I know our users and library volunteers will enjoy it because of its ease and quickness.
The customer support is outstanding. I just couldn't believe the quick response to my email. The customer support staff actually called me and walked me through each step. I am not computer literate. This is what I think I appreciated most about the support, that they were so patient and didn't treat me like I was bothering them or asking stupid, repetitive questions. They didn't rush me, even though we were on the phone for quite a while. They answered every question I had and gave me additional information that would make things go smoother.
I would highly recommend this software for any church library, no matter the size. The product is the best I've seen on the market, the price is lower than any I had priced out, and the customer support is second to none. Thanks for making my library job more pleasurable and more efficient."

"We at the Louis Gossett Residential Center have a small library that contains nearly 8,000 books, not including the variety of magazines. Library 1.7 has enabled us to maintain a solid record of our collection and also of the students usage. Since using this program we have experienced fewer losses and have become more organized. The new updates have allowed us to view our collection from a variety of perspectives. Our social study teachers had wanted us to have the capability to access all books on one theme that exist in our library. With this new 2003-2004 update, we can now do this.
This program is not only functional but economical and I would suggest making a committment to paying the annual update fees in order to benefit from extending the life and capabilities of this program. In comparison to all other programs I have researched, I would say that it is more than worth what you pay and as good as those others on the market that are too outrageous in cost to purchase!"

"I really love Library 1.7!"

"I was about to recommend to my church a much more expensive system that is too much for small churches when I learned about Library 1.7 from the library director at another church. I am having a lot of fun with it, especially with showing patrons what it can do."

"When I was told that I had to switch to a new library record system, the idea of starting over, with 5030 books to enter, was devastating. Thanks to the CROSS Library 1.7 system, the job was quick and painless. With very little computer knowledge, I was able to load and use the system immediately with only minor frustration. Technical support was always ready with the answer when I hit a snag. I put the system on home and church computers so that I could keep adding books wherever I happened to be when a spare moment came along. Now the reports I am generating astound me. Using older computers, we have set up viewing screens in both our adult and children's libraries. If you have other media to maintain, videos, cd's, sheet music, etc., the Media Type option makes it easy to separate.
I am a volunteer librararian (former school principal) who loves books but didn't want a scheduled job. Our church is a large, urban, older and very supportive Lutheran congregation. We do not use the checkin/checkout capabilities and are not interested in bar codes. But, the best part is, that we no longer have to use a Card Catalog!!!"
Note: Shirley wrote again in February 2007:
"Although I have been using CROSS Library 1.7 for over three years now, I am still finding new things that it can do for me every day. Having very limited computer skills, I truly appreciate a program that is both quick and uncomplicated. I simply enter the information, run off the labels, and my super library team can accession new materials, generate inventory reports, and keep all our records accurate and up-to-date. This program makes it easy for me to work both at church and at home, which ever suits my schedule.
Now that the old card catalog is gone, our congregation uses the Search function to find books or other media with just a click of the keys. It is surprisingly easy. They can use title, author, subject, or classification to find all the material they need. I recommend an extra computer just for the congregation. And be sure to sign on for assistance which also entitles you to get all the updates, plus very prompt, unthreatening personal help on everything. As we approach our 6000 accession mark, I can’t imagine life without Library 1.7."

Help is just a phone call away, and our questions are always answered with courtesy. A representative has patiently walked us through various steps without making us feel hurried or pressured. We have catalogued more than 1,300 items to date and are grateful for an efficient, workable library system to manage them."

"The Edmond Church of Christ has been a satisfied user of your Library 1.7 software for several years, with a current book inventory of about 2500 books. We are presently extracting reports of books by author and title to PDF format for members to browse via our church Internet web site. The reports are Library 1.7 generated by simply printing them to the Adobe Acrobat Distiller, which Acrobat sets up as if it were an additional printer. The report files are thus saved in Adobe PDF format, copied to our Internet server, and linked to the “Resources” page on the church web site. You are welcome to visit our web site and see for yourself at:

"We have been using the CROSS Library 1.7 Software for over a year and it has
surpassed our expectations. The user friendly screens are expecially helpful as several different people have worked on entering the 2000+ books in our library into the data base. The process of cataloguing the books has been made very easy by using the labels for the author and title cards, date due envelopes, spine labels and borrowers cards. We are a small church library which recently relocated into a larger area and the software has allowed us to become much more efficient. Thanks for a great program and timely support."

"I greatly enjoy working with the Library 1.7 program. It is very easy to use and it has allowed me some options for our small church library (approximately 2200 books and videos). For instance, the library has just completed the first stage of organization and at present we are using the Reports feature to produce a "Paper Catalog" for our patrons. The formats of the reports are wonderful! They are uncomplicated and easy for the patrons to
interpret. I am extremely satisfied with the program!"

"I recently went to a library conference and attended a workshop on another library program. I just want to let you know how proud I am that we have the CROSS Library 1.7 program. The other program is far too complicated for amateurs to master. It seemed like a program suitable for university or large civic libraries. I think Library 1.7 is perfect for small churches which most of them have. There were two ladies in the workshop that I was in who had had the program for over a year and they could hardly go through the process of entering a book. Most church librarians are not trained in library skills. That’s why I like Library 1.7. Even though I have worked with school library automated programs, I still feel Library 1.7 is more suitable for the average unskilled church librarian."

"I love the Library 1.7 program! It's very easy to understand. Not only is this program easy to understand, it's easy to show others how to use it. I was in charge of figuring it all out and then teaching the others. It was so simple. I also encouraged the other librarians to go to your website and read through all of your questions and answers. They were so helpful to me that I wanted them to read it for themselves. I was afraid we would be very overwhelmed with entering all of our books into the computer. But it is running so smoothly. The more we enter, the faster it goes."

"I had a lot of fun learning your excellent Library 1.7 program. It was so user friendly, I couldn't believe it!!
The way you have the Help section organized, I imagine was the result of a lot of time and effort. Including a short library set of books is an excellent way to get some hands on experience before setting up your own library. I started entering books and was surprised by all the little things in the program to make it so easy (especially compared to what I had been using).
It didn't take long to discover how easy it was to print the labels. I have now printed the label sets for new purchases and am ready for more!
I have been listing "SERIES - (name of the series with the BOOK NO.)" in Collation. In Comments, I have been listing "GIFT - Name of the donor". In printing lists, I have used the SEARCH in finding the series or gifts for a printed report. That SEARCH tool gives you almost unlimited possibilities in coming up with all sorts of reports!
Today I made a backup (3 1/2" disk). Your program formatted the disk and entered the data nicely. I think I have done most of the operations we will require and it has been a real pleasure doing it. Thanks again for your fine program. I'd recommend it to any library, especially smaller ones like ours."
