CROSS Systems, Inc. has updated the CROSS Library Mint system to provide the following usability, performance, and technical benefits:
- 64-bit LUbuntu (if you do not know what this means, the following highlights might be helpful)
- LUbuntu itself is ‘Light Ubuntu’ meaning that it is designed to run leaner which is better on lower-powered computers
- 1GB reduction in RAM requirements (Reduced Memory requirement improves performance and flexibility especially if your computer doesn’t quite meet our RAM recommendation of 8GB or larger.) This makes CROSS Library work just fine with 4-6GB by default and even works well when running with 4GB of RAM, where necessary. (NOTE: We are not inclined to reduce our recommended RAM of 8GB as future guideline; however, our software configuration is as lean as possible to run even better than our previous versions on all of our customers’ older hardware providing you even more life for your current computer at a cheaper cost to you.)
- 64-bit LUbuntu provides improved performance by aligning better with your physical computer’s CPU
- LUbuntu provides resources that CROSS Systems, Inc. has configured so it runs CROSS Library better than other systems being more finely-tuned. (Fixes have been provided so windows do not drop behind other windows along with various other small but very helpful tweaks.)
- More and updated printer driver support providing what our customers need out-of-the-box including driverless printing if your printer supports that!
- Updated anti-virus scanner along with improved configuration
- The latest Ubuntu 6.8.x kernel and driver updates for enhanced security, performance, stability, and improved hardware support including improved network drivers for great stability and performance
- LUbuntu 24.04.1 LTS will be provided updates by Ubuntu through April 2029 before requiring a major release upgrade! (This gives you a nice, stable support roadmap for future features, drivers, security, and performance!)
- …and many more!
REQUIREMENTS: Upgrades to this release will require an up-to-date CROSS Library Subscription as we provide the installation support. Please verify your subscription online. Also, when you call, if your phone# is in our system, you may hear the subscription status for your account during the call.
